Thu Feb 7 14:15:30 EST 2013

I've been trying to keep track of topics as they've appeared on the list &
a couple of my own coming out of midwinter. Here's what I have for
possible agenda topics:

1. 583 field issues
     a. Standard language, e.g. length of retention commitment seems to
vary, is this a problem?
     b. Substituting later edition for title on retention list - put 583
in the later edition's record?
     c. OCLC & their support for shared print projects, e.g. separate OCLC
symbol for the shared print titles?
     d. Exposing 583/retention data in MeLCat

2. SCS data set (In January, I sent a link to a search interface - if you
missed it here's the link: http://mcls.org/mi-spi-database)
     a. How do we want to use it, e.g. recording lost/missing, etc
     b. What other search fields are needed, e.g. author, title, etc

3. MI-SPI website
    a. What needs to added?

4. Long loan periods
     a. MeLCat implications
     b. Recall if needed?

5. Next steps
    a. Serials project - Scott & I heard a presentation from Judy Russell,
Library Dean at Univ of FL that may be replicable in MI
    b. Expanding beyond commonly-held, low use monographs
