     Please note the job posting for the Library Director position in Big Rapids. I have greatly enjoyed my time in Big Rapids but am excited to be accepting a position as the Library Director of the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library in Midland.

LIBRARY DIRECTOR

The City of Big Rapids is accepting applications and/or resumes for a Library Director of the Big Rapids Community Library. The Library Director works under the general administrative direction of the Neighborhood Services Director and policy direction of the Library Board.

The position directs and participates in all operations and professional activities of the Library. Prepares and administers operating and capital budgets, oversees personnel administration, directs the development of the library collection, oversees the delivery of all Library services, and recommends policy and financial considerations to the Library Board.

Qualifications required: A Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library/information school. Coursework or continuing education in administration, finance or public relations is desired. Three years of professional librarian experience, including supervisory responsibilities. Level II Professional Library Certification. Substantial knowledge of the legal requirements of library administration, public finance, personnel administration and public meetings.

Compensation $51,573 - $64,125 plus full benefit package.
