[Michlib-l] About that job posting

As the employment specialist here at our library, when people come to have
help with their resume, I also give them information about conducting
themselves at an interview and how to respond to a job posting. Connie, you
are so right about this person - he/she does not read instructions well
which also may lead to they may want to do what they think is right
regardless of instructions. Certainly if a person does not respond to your
posting in the way you requested (someone they do not know), the question
could be asked how will they respond to you if they know you better. Your
reaction is so right on to the fat envelope and the person who sent it.

One of the things I say to people is the person with the job available does
not want to know everything you have ever did in great detail. Keep your
resume and responses down to the basic information requested. No one is
interested in the life history of our individual working lives to be hired
for a job. I also let them know a person with the job does not have time
for all that information as well.

It is too bad that people do not ask for help when out job hunting, maybe
after several years of not being in the job hunting marketplace.
