[Mcls-print-storage] Blog entry using some MCLS data?

Hello all,

Most of you are probably aware of my blog, Sample & Hold, where I post 3-4
times per month on topics related to data-driven deselection and management
of shared print. http://sampleandhold-r2.blogspot.com/.

On a long cross-country flight this weekend, it occurred to me that a
high-level view of the MCLS pilot library data might be very interesting to
other libraries. It would also call some attention to the work that all of
you, along with MCLS and SCS, have been doing. It might encourage other
libraries to share similar data--to the degree that they have it. Before
proceeding, though, I wanted to run this by the group to see if there are
any objections.

I'm particularly interested in calling out some of the aggregate numbers,
such as:

3.8 million filtered, de-duplicated bib records
46% have zero charges within the past 11 years
62% have more than 100 holdings in the US
44% appear in Hathi Trust (but only 3% are public domain)

This would not be an in-depth analysis, just description of a few salient
characteristics of the collection as a whole. I would like to mention by
name all of the institutions involved, but will not divulge
institution-specific data without explicit permission.

If anyone is uncomfortable with this, please let me know. I'm aiming to
post something later this week. If I hear no objections by Wednesday, I
will assume that a high-level post is OK.

Thanks,
Rick
