</span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt; line-height:115%; font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Pulitzer Prize-winning author and poet Tracy K. Smith will speak from 3 p.m. - 5 pm. on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at the 2018 ALA (American Library Association) Annual
 Conference & Exhibition in New Orleans. Her collection "Life on Mars" won the 2012 Pulitzer Prize and was selected as a New York Times Notable Book. The Root.com has noted that Smith's fourth and just released collection of poems, "Wade in the Water," is sure
 to be on everyone's awards and best-of lists.<br>

</span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt; line-height:115%; font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), in partnership with the Chief Officers of State Library Agencies (COSLA), will implement a new project, Transforming
 Teen Services: A Train the Trainer Approach from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2021. The three-year project is generously funded by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.<br>

<p class="x_MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt; line-height:115%; font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Public Library Association announces library cohort for 2018 Inclusive Internship Initiative<br>
</span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt; line-height:115%; font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">The Public Library Association (PLA) has announced the libraries in its 2018 Inclusive Internship Initiative (III) cohort. Last summer, PLA piloted this first-of-its-kind
 internship program designed to present librarianship as a viable career option for the next generation of Americans. In 2017, PLA sponsored paid, mentored public library internships for 50 high school juniors and seniors at 39 host libraries across the U.S.,
 including two tribal libraries and sites in Alaska and Hawaii.<br>
For 2018, PLA is proud to offer this opportunity to 50 libraries, with support from IMLS’ grant RE-00-17-0129-17. Each participating library will recruit an intern who, with individual guidance from a mentor, will engage with multiple facets of library life
 this summer. Each intern will also complete a connected-learning project on behalf of their host library.

 groups about hot topics and engaging programs about leadership, systems, and user experience, now ETS is bringing a revitalized structure and slate of committees together to focus on equipping public-service librarians to implement tech-savvy solutions that
 work for all kinds of libraries and users.<br>

</span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt; line-height:115%; font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), and the Notable Children's Digital Media committee,
 formerly the Great Websites committee, is excited to announce its inaugural list of great digital media for children.<br>
To highlight the shift in media focus the committee has concentrated on apps for this year’s selections. Future lists will include a diverse array of digital media for children up to age 14, including websites and video streaming. The 2018 Notable Children’s
 Digital Media committee has selected 15 apps that span diverse subjects from mindfulness to math. These apps introduce rich topics and engaging activities and provide a platform for play and imagination.<br>
