The Metropolitan Detroit Medical Library Group (MDMLG) is proud to be hosting a two course event at WSU’s Shiffman Medical Library on March 24, 2016 from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Holly Ann Burt will be teaching “Keeping up with PubMed” in the morning and “Emergency
Preparedness for Libraries” in the afternoon. These courses are FREE to attend and are being brought to you by the National Network of Libraries of Medicine Greater Midwest Region (GMR). We encourage you to participate and hope you can join us!<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b><u>Keeping Up With PubMed</u> </b>-<b> </b>4 MLA CE Credits<b>
</b>(8:30am to 12:30pm)<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">With a hands-on approach, this class will show attendees how to use the features of PubMed effectively. Attendees will be able to describe the contents of PubMed; formulate basic search strategies; display, print, and save results in various
formats; revise and refine searches; and use special features such as Related Articles, Link to journals, Citation Matcher, and Clinical Queries. The instructor will demonstrate online searches and students, at computers connected to the Internet, will be
invited to follow along. Time for individual practice will be provided.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b><u>Emergency Preparedness for Libraries</u> </b>- 3 MLA CE Credits<b>
</b>(1:30pm to 4:30pm)<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The class examines strategies to assist librarians with preparing for, responding to, and recovering from emergencies. Topics include learning how to conduct a basic risk assessment for their libraries and craft a basic emergency preparedness
plan including strategies for continuing library services during the emergency; disaster planning models; types of resources available for emergency planning and recovery; relationships with first responders, vendors, and other libraries; and issues related
to salvage. Class activities provide the opportunity to discuss and begin developing continuity of service plans and related processes.<br>
