Join us a series of webinars covering the topic of library millages. Each webinar will be recorded and posted at the end of the month.  Registration for the series provides you with access to all 4 sessions listed below.

Deciding upon, initiating, running and ultimately having a successful millage campaign is a daunting prospect for many Michigan Public Libraries. Resistant Municipalities, election and campaign laws, and combative communities can combine and overwhelm boards and directors alike. This series is for you! The 2024 Millage Series will occur every Monday in March. Participants need only to register 1 time to attend one or all sessions in the series. Each session will center on one aspect of the millage process:

Session I: March 4, 2024, 1pm - 2:30pm EST
Determining to attempt a Millage How Library Funding works. How much do you need? How much are you likely to receive from a millage, etc. Speakers: Clare Membiela, & Joe Hamlin. Library of Michigan

Session II: March 11, 2024, 1pm-2:30pm EST
Legal considerations of a Millage - Anne Seurynck, Attorney with Foster, Swift, Collins and Smith

Session III: March 18, 2024, 1pm-2:30pm EST
Assembling a "Yes" Committee; Campaigning Dos and Don'ts (Speaker - TBA)

Session IV: March 25, 2024, 1pm-2:30pm EST
Communicating to Campaign - Millage discussions for supportive and non-supportive communities. (Speaker TBA)

Learning Objectives:
Participants attending these sessions will discover information, resources and support options for initiating, implementing and running a millage campaign.
