*Director, Cass District Library, Cass County Michigan*



The Board of the Cass District Library seeks a dynamic director to work
with an experienced staff of 23 and 8 supportive Trustees.  This Class V
Library serves approximately 38,000 residents with five facilities.  The
director is responsible for administering the $1,000,000 budget, policy
development and implementation, collection management, library promotion,
strategic planning, public relations, and working with employees.  The
candidate must have an MLS from an ALA accredited program and 4 years of
public library experience—preferably supervisory—and possess or be
qualified to obtain a Level I Certificate from the Library of Michigan.  The
preferred candidate will have a team approach to management, genuine
concern for customer satisfaction, a pleasant demeanor, and a sense of
humor.  He or she must also be comfortable with technology.



Cass County offers small town charm with access to urban amenities.  Arts
and cultural opportunities abound in cities such as Chicago, Grand Rapids,
Kalamazoo, and South Bend—all within a two hour radius of Cass County.  The
Lake Michigan shoreline beckons less than an hour west while Cass County
boasts 122 inland lakes.
