Yes we do - we had so many patrons "borrowing" stamps, envelopes,etc.. so
we just made a pricing sign and offer them now. I attached our price lists

Thanks to everyone who responded to my query. Here are the responses received:

DO YOU SELL ENVELOPES TO PATRONS?

RESPONSES

June 5, 2018

    * We do not advertise that we have them available but do hand them out if requested. We do sell individual stamps.
    * We get the same request (envelopes) but we don?t sell them. I?d be curious to see your responses
    * We give these items away when they are requested by patrons.
    * We don't sell envelopes and manilla folders. However, I have a stack of used manilla folders that someone donated to me and I will give them to anyone who needs one for free. And occasionally we will give a business size envelope to a patron if we have blank ones but we have mostly ones with our address and logo on them which we don't give out. Thankfully, our post office is only a block or two away. I would be interested to hear the results of this questions if you could please compile it.
    * We sell #10 envelopes and postage stamps.
    * We do not sell them but if a patron asks, we tell them we charge 25 cents per envelope.
    * "Sorry, but we aren't an office supply store. Would you like to use one our newsletters to protect your papers until you get home?" Oh, and "There is a post office kitty corner to us," but that probably isn't applicable to you.

    *
The Roseville Public Library sells white business envelopes, 9 x 12 manilla envelopes, pens, pencils, highlighters and lined paper notebooks at the circulation desk. Our biggest sellers are 9 x 12 manilla envelopes and white business envelopes. I purchase them at the dollar store and try to charge as close to what we pay for them as possible so that the price always stays the same even with price fluctuations. It is a service to our patrons as opposed to a fund raiser. Also, offering popular office supplies for sale helps when we explain to patrons that we cannot give them office supplies free of charge.
    * We sell standard business envelopes for 10 cents.
    * We do not sell those items but have provided them to our patrons. The patrons usually make a donation to us.
    * We do! We sell #10 standard white envelopes at 10c each and stamps at currently 50c each at our front desk. Funds from the envelopes are reimbursed to our office supply expense line item and the same for stamps to our postage expense line item. We have had requests for manilla folders and file folders before, but not often enough to set up pricing for them.
    * Yes we do - we had so many patrons "borrowing" stamps, envelopes,etc.. so we just made a pricing sign and offer them now.
    * We do not sell any office supplies. We do give out paperclips to anyone using the printer or copy machine.

We have decided to use Wandoo Reader this summer. We would like to make a handout for patrons that tells them how it works, how to sign up and how to use the Family Management Portal. I would love to see how other libraries have handled this. Has anyone already done something like this that they would be willing to share?

The Incredibles to use superpowers for Library Card Sign-up Month
The Incredibles are joining the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide to encourage the public to obtain a free library card as Honorary Chairs of Library Card Sign-up Month this September. The Incredibles will use their superpowers to remind families, students and people of all ages that signing up for a library card is a great step toward a truly super lifestyle.
Providing free access to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) programs, educational apps, in-person and virtual homework help and technology workshops, a library card is one of the most cost-effective back-to-school supplies available. Library Card Sign-up Month is a time to highlight the supportive role libraries and librarians play in transforming lives and communities through education. Studies show that children who are read to in the home and who use the library perform better in school and are more likely to continue to utilize libraries as a source of lifelong learning.
Later this month, the Incredibles will appear in Library Card Sign-up Month print and digital public service announcements (PSAs). The free PSAs will be available for libraries to use in print materials and online. Sample media tools such as a press release, proclamation, radio PSA scripts and tweets will also be provided. In addition, free artwork for library cards will be offered. Posters, stickers and bookmarks featuring the Incredibles are currently available for purchase through the ALA Store at alastore.ala.org/content/incredibles-set.

YALSA releases new report, Transforming Library Services for and with Teens Through Continuing Education
The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of ALA, has released its new report, Transforming Library Services for and with Teens Through Continuing Education (CE).
The report is the result of a year-long national forum that took place from June 1, 2017 to May 31, 2018, and was hosted in partnership with the Chief Officers of State Library Agencies (COSLA) and generously funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
?At YALSA we believe it is critical that all library staff, in all types of libraries, engage in continuous learning (CE) in order to be able to effectively serve teens,? said YALSA President Sandra Hughes-Hassell. ?The recommended strategies included in this report provide guidance for various stakeholder groups on how to transform CE opportunities and create a culture of continual learning thus enabling library staff to put teens first.?

We are evaluating Deep Freeze cloud version but are experiencing a wide range of issues, such as:

  * Black Screen after patron login (no longer happening after a recent deep freeze update, but we are concerned that this could happen again and all PACs would be unusable?especially since this was a known issue for some time and still exists as a known issue)
  * Desktop icons not staying in place
  * Maintenance window not consistently running (includes the software updater and the update of core deep freeze components)
  * Support/Development taking a lifetime to get us answers.

Given our recent experience, I?m amazed that anyone has successfully and ?consistently? used Deep Freeze in a production environment, even though I know it is a commonly used solution in libraries and schools. So I?m wondering if anyone has recently experienced any of these issues and what steps you took to resolve them?

Any help or insight is appreciated.
