"South of Superior" was Airgood’s debut novel and was named a Michigan
Notable Book in 2012.
​ ​
The novel tells the story of  Madeline Stone who leaves her Chicago life to
live in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. As she is drawn into the dramas of the
small, tight-knit town, Madeline learns that it’s a place where times are
tough and debts run deep, but where friendship, community, and compassion
run deeper.
