FYI to libraries that are serving as community anchors in compelling ways about the Institute of Museum and Library Services National Library Medal program. IMLS has posted the following information about the medals this year. Consider applying!

"This year, we are particularly interested in museum and library programs that build community cohesion and serve as a catalyst for positive community change, including programs that provide services for veterans and military families, at-risk children and families, the un- and under-employed, and youth confronting barriers to STEM-related employment."

In order to be considered for the National Medal for Museum and Library Service, you will need to complete and submit the required Nomination Form.  Three representatives from the community served by the institution should submit letters of recommendation either with your nomination packet or separately to IMLS by the October 2 deadline. The form and instructions are available on the IMLS website at: https://www.imls.gov/grants/available/national-medal-museum-and-library-service
