*GLADL - Collections Specialist Librarian (Part-Time)*

*What this job does* -- Major duties include managing and delivering
technical services and Young Adult collection development.

Translation -- we are looking for someone who likes cataloging, and getting
the most out of an automation system to deliver better results for our
patrons.  Have to like YA materials and want to build up our collection.
We have made some contacts at the High School and want someone to take this
to the next level.  Sound too scary, also OK if you just like to get the
work done and make patrons happy that their books are ready to read and
easy to find.

*What's our library and city like* -- The Grand Ledge Area District Library
is a Class IV library in a thriving suburb west of Lansing with a service
population of 16,000 people and annual operating budget of $750,000.  We
want your ideas on how to enhance our collections (90K items), draw new
users to the library (70K annual visitors), and create new readers (98K
annual circulation).  Lots to do in Grand Ledge and the greater Lansing
area (music, plays, arts, river, parks) and we love a parade!

Have to say Grand Ledge is a great place, we are close to Lansing/MSU, so
have plenty to do in Lansing and in Grand Ledge.  Plenty of shopping and
Grand Rapids and Brighton (outlet malls) are within an hour.  Lots of
outdoor activity from kayaking, biking, and several parks -- and don't
forget ledge climbing!

*SALARY:*   $18.00 per hour (negotiable based upon experience)

*HOURS:   24 hours per week*—schedule includes 5-9pm Thursday night shift.
In addition, participate in weekend desk coverage monthly rotation. We are
open 4 nights a week and 7 days a week.  We think its important that
catalogers work the public service desk -- if you don't know how the
catalog is being used, you can't make it work for patrons.
