Position:              Librarian

               Part-time

Salary Range:     $17.15-$20.50

Grade:                  6

Effective Date: 2/22/2016



Job Summary



Under the direction of the Youth Services or Adult Services Manager,
provide excellent customer service to patrons in reference and
readers/audiovisual/technology advisory service; schedule and present
programming for youth, teens, and/or adults; select and maintain physical
and e-collections.



Responsibilities

   - Provide reference and readers/audiovisual/technology advisory service
   to the public
   - Provide programming for youth, teens, and/or adults
   - Select and maintain physical and e-collections
   - Represent library at system and community meetings and serves on
   library system committees.
   - Recommend technology-related and patron-related policies and
   procedures to Library Director
   - Participate in long-range planning process for the library, including
   recommending changes or improvements and developing new types of services
   and operations
   - Stay up-to-date on professional developments through participation in
   professional organizations, system meetings, workshops, and continuing
   education opportunities
   - Serve as Training Coordinator for public computer classes

Qualifications



MLS from a graduate library school accredited by ALA



Requirements

   - A strong background in computers/technology and non-print materials
   formats
   - Patience, tact
   - Excellent communication skills, written and oral
   - Enjoy learning as well as teaching
   - Ability to train and supervise library staff
   - Strong organizational talents
   - Demonstrate creativity, flexibility, and a positive attitude
   - Poise in a busy setting serving patrons and staff with high
   expectations
   - Excellent reference skills and ability to relate to patrons of all ages
   - Ability to exhibit good judgment and establish effective working
   relationships with staff, colleagues within the library system, local
   government personnel
   - Ability to plan and coordinate the work of others
   - Ability to establish effective working relationships with community
   organizations
   - Warm, outgoing personality
   - Ability to lift or transport items weighing up to 40 pounds

·         Flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
