Good morning,

The Baldwin Library has partnered with the Michigan Architectural
Foundation to create a collection of books for children that encourages the
love of architecture, art, color, design, shapes, and famous landmarks. These
books are available for ILL from our library and have now been placed in
five children's hospitals around the state. Read more about the collection
in our press release below and find the complete listing and a downloadable
brochure at www.baldwinlib.org/build-imagination.

*Build Imagination Book Collection Debuts at Michigan Hospitals*

BIRMINGHAM, MI (October 21, 2016) – Patients at Michigan hospitals and
cancer centers will have the opportunity to enjoy a new collection of books
during their stay, thanks to a donation from the Rae Dumke Fund of the
Michigan Architectural Foundation (MAF). With help from the Baldwin Public
Library in Birmingham, Rae Dumke, Hon. AIA, will be presenting the Build
Imagination collection, a set of 100 books on topics that help foster
children's imaginations and raise awareness about architecture, to five
children’s hospitals and cancer centers around the state.

Covering everything from architecture, art and color to LEGO, graphic
design, shapes, and famous landmarks, the Build Imagination collection
includes board books for the very young to more advanced informational
texts for children as old as fourteen. Stephanie Klimmek, Head of Youth
Services at the Baldwin Library, selected each title in the collection.

The Rae Dumke Fund will be providing complete sets of Build Imagination
books to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital (Ann Arbor), Bronson Children’s
Hospital (Kalamazoo), Renucci Hospitality House (Grand Rapids), Ronald
McDonald House (Grand Rapids), and Munson Hospital Cowell Family Cancer
Center (Traverse City).

Rae Dumke, Hon. AIA, is the former Executive Director of MAF, AIA Michigan
(American Institute of Architects Michigan), and AIA Detroit. She currently
serves on the MAF Board of Trustees. Upon her retirement, the Michigan
Architectural Foundation established a dedicated development fund to honor
her legacy of 43 years of service to AIA and MAF. Contributions to the Rae
Dumke Development Fund came from AIA members, the construction industry,
friends, and family. The Dumke Open, an annual golf outing, is a major
fundraising event for the development fund.

After debuting the Build Imagination collection at the Baldwin Public
Library in September 2015, Dumke began looking for new avenues to share
this special collection of books. “Children and parents all had such
delightful reactions to the collection during the open house held to
present the books. I wanted to be able to share these special books with
more children around our state,” said Dumke. “Reading together is such a
special and important way for a child to bond with a parent. I hope that
these books will be a source of comfort to parents and children during the
treatment process.”

The Baldwin Public Library, located in downtown Birmingham, enriches
Birmingham and participating communities by providing opportunities and
resources for individuals of all ages and backgrounds to learn, connect,
and discover. To learn more about the Build Imagination collection, visit
