Keynote: The Heart of Librarianship: Attentive, Positive & Purposeful Change
The heart of librarianship is learning and supporting our users’ curiosity through every means possible. It’s a cyclical process of support, engagement, and discovery with deep roots in the concepts of service, access, and freedom to pursue interests of all kinds. No matter what type of institution, someone is gaining knowledge, finding information, or creating something new based on our facilitation. This role of facilitator and guide is best delivered with humanity and heart.

Speaker: Dr. Michael Stephens, Assistant Professor, School of Information, San Jose State University
Dr. Stephens presents to both national and international audiences about emerging technologies, learning, innovation, and libraries. Since 2010, Dr. Stephens has written the monthly column “Office Hours” for Library Journal exploring the issues, ideas, and emerging trends in libraries and LIS education. To review Dr. Stephen’s archive of work, visit his Tame the Web website and blog at http://tametheweb.com.

In this session, we’ll discuss these integrations and walkthrough the different ways that they are being used by students, teachers, and researchers!
