There is a new season of films on PBS and they are now available for free library screenings prior to their PBS debut.

Last year more than 15 libraries from Michigan sign up to host screenings in the past year. This is a great low-cost idea for programming for libraries of all sizes. You can find details below on what is available and how to contact the POV Community Engagement and Education Team for more information.

Award-Winning Documentaries from PBS' POV Available for Free to Libraries for Screenings

POV is television's longest-running showcase for independent nonfiction films, premiering 14-16 of the best, boldest and most innovative programs every year on PBS. The films are known for their intimacy, their unforgettable storytelling and their timeliness, putting a human face on contemporary social issues.

These award-winning films are available to libraries for free through the POV Community Network<http://www.pbs.org/pov/outreach/amdoc/events/register.php>. Along with a DVD of the film, POV provides a discussion guide and suggested reading list to help librarians facilitate community conversations and provide context for the film.

In addition to over 80 films from past POV seasons, documentaries from POV's upcoming season are available for sneak-preview screenings prior to their debut on PBS. Check out their 29th Season Line-Up<http://pov-tc.pbs.org/pov/downloads/2016/pov-season29-cee-partner-pipeline.pdf> online with dates sneak-preview screening may begin.

POV’s new season presents unforgettable stories of diverse people — ranging from war heroes to highly stigmatized criminals — looking to reintegrate into society, often against great odds. Other films feature heroic attempts to secure justice and education and to find fulfillment in the final stages of life. This year, each film poses difficult questions with no clear answers, providing space to engage your community in a dialogue around the most pressing social issues of our time. Trailers for the films can be seen here<http://www.pbs.org/pov/blog/povdocs/2016/03/povs-29th-season-of-films-available-for-sneak-preview-screenings/>.
