Dear Colleagues,

Please feel free to share with anyone whom you think would be interested
in attending this program:

_GAME OF THRONES_ MINI RENAISSANCE FAIR

"Winter is Coming"

There is no shelter from the storm… _Game of Thrones_ will be coming to
the Pinckney Community Public Library.

After a wildly successful program based on PBS's Masterpiece series
_Downton Abbey_, the Pinckney Community Public Library will be hosting
an even bigger program based on _Game of Thrones_, featuring George R.R.
Martin's _A Song of Ice and Fire_ books and the HBO series that these
books inspired. On Friday, June 20, 2014, from 6:15pm to 9pm, prepare to
be transported to the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros and the Free Cities of
Essos!

_"When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. There is no
middle ground."_

The program schedule is divided into two parts, with the first part
consisting of presentations that are "family friendly" and open to
guests of all ages. Included in the festivity's performances are:

 	* RING OF STEEL ACTION THEATRE AND STUNT TROUPE (ringofsteel.org) will
do a 90-minute presentation in full costume of the different fighting
styles, battles, and arms used in the fantasy world featured in the _A
Song of Ice and Fire_ book series and the _Game of Thrones_ HBO series.
They will also include a discussion of how the fantasy battles and duels
compare with historical medieval fighting styles.
 	* THE ARBOR CONSORT: A CAPPELLA SINGING GROUP (thearborconsort.org)
will perform Madrigal Music of the Renaissance Era and will also perform
certain songs that work with the _Game of Thrones_ fantasy world.
 	* LEGENDS LARP members will talk about LARPing (Live Action Role
Playing) basics: the different styles, the different themes and the
overall mechanics. They will bring costumes and props, which will
include realistic LARP weapons (all latex and 100% safe around all
ages). Members will also be on hand to discuss more about this
particular Howell/Brighton area LARP group.
 	* D-20 CAFÉ ON MAIN STREET IN PINCKNEY will hold their OFFICIAL FRIDAY
NIGHT MAGIC: THE GATHERING TOURNAMENT (Modern Format). Registration
begins at 7pm and play starts around 7:30pm. Contact Jessica Brown at
734-355-8599 for more details about joining the tournament.
 	* _GAME OF THRONES_ AND _A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE_ TRIVIA GAMES--win for
the honor of your House! (Grand prizes include: A Game of Thrones: The
Board Game, Game of Thrones a Pop-Up Guide to Westeros, George R.R.
Martin's A Game of Thrones 5-Book Boxed Set, A Game of Thrones: The
Grapic Novels Vols. 1-3, and more!)

The remaining hour will be dedicated to a discussion of George R. R.
Martin's _A Song of Ice and Fire_ book series and HBO's _Game of
Thrones_ TV Series. This portion of the evening contains mature content
and may include spoilers for both the books and the TV series.
Theme-inspired refreshments will be served throughout the evening and
will include recipes from _A Feast of Ice Fire: __The Official Game of
Thrones Companion Cookbook_.

Pinckney Library's "Game of Thrones Mini Renaissance Fair" has been paid
for by a grant from the Metro-Detroit Book & Author Society's JAMES C.
