Dear Colleagues, this email relates to the upcoming MI-SPI 2.0 meeting scheduled for Friday, January 19, 2024, 11am-NoonEST. We have a lot to discuss and review, including a general conversation about where libraries are with shared print and the desired vision for MI-SPI 2.0. Along with that, there are specific topics. It is possible we won't be able to cover everything and will need a second meeting to complete the discussion.

Attached to this email is the agenda (includes Zoom access) as well as the MI-SPI 2.0 MOU. Below are resources related to Gold Rush and EAST, topics for discussion at the meeting. As you are able, please review in advance. It is important for a representative from each MI-SPI library attend. If that is not possible for your library, please let me know so we can make sure appropriate follow-up information is provided. Reach out if you have if you have any questions in advance of January 19.

Eastern Academics Scholar's Trust (EAST) information and resources-

  *   EAST website, https://eastlibraries.org/
  *   Attached is a document that describes the EAST membership models and provides a sense of the costs.  There are three options for MCLS:
                              *The existing MI-SPI members (or some subset) join EAST as individual Retention Partners giving them full rights for participation in EAST governance. They would pay the standard annual membership dues.
               *The existing MI-SPI members (or some subset) join EAST as Consortial Retention Partners per the attached description. They receive a consortial discount but are limited in their participation in governance.
*The existing MI-SPI members (or some subject) join EAST as Consortial Retention Partners and other interested MCLS libraries join as Consortial Supporting Partners per the attached description.  In order to
determine the applicable discount(s) for this model, we would need to undertake an analysis of your resource sharing data to categorize the non-MCLS borrowing as high, medium, low or very low.  This model would allow additional MCLS libraries to participate in the EAST Lending Network.
