Greetings! The Partnership for Shared Print Collections<https://eastlibraries.org/partnership-shared-book-collections> is looking for volunteers to serve as members of its working groups as part of the organizational transition to a formal governance structure. As you'll recall, MCLS is a founding member and financial supporter of the partnership. Please see the below information about the volunteer opportunities, provided by Susan Stearns, Project Director, Eastern Academic Scholars' Trust (EAST). Thank you!

Partnership for Shared Print Collections-Volunteer Opportunities:

The Working Groups

Per the Governance document<https://sharedprint.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/PartnershipforSharedBookCollectionsGovernance-FinalVersion2.0.pdf> of the Partnership for Shared Book Collections, the original Working Groups will transition into the following three Working Groups moving forward:

*        Best Practices

*        Research and Network Level

*        Infrastructure.

While the Best Practices Working Group is currently well staffed and we anticipate that Heather Weltin of HathiTrust will remain as the convener, the other two Working Groups are soliciting additional members. Anyone from your members libraries interested in serving on either of the working groups, should email the individual specified below, specifying their particular area of interest and any relevant qualifications.

Research and Network Level Working Group

This Working Group will consolidate the work of the original Risk and Outreach & Engagement Working Groups. It will investigate activities that best scale at the network-level for shared print such as: conducting research on relevant issues, supporting marketing and communication to stakeholder audiences, developing funding strategies to expand shared print, and providing support for new programs.

Specific tasks anticipated for this group include:

* Developing a shared print toolkit to support the startup of hew shared print programs as well as a directory of experts and advisors

* Continuing work on development of a marketing/communications toolkit

* Creation of a Shared Print Program Directory

* Identify costs of and value provided by shared print programs.

Individuals interested in serving on the Research and Network Level Working Group should contact Ian Bogus at ibogus at princeton.edu.

Infrastructure Working Group

This newly forming Working Group will continue the work of the Open Retention Data Working Group and focus on ensuring a robust infrastructure in support of shared print including access to open retention data, support for reporting including identifying unique materials, and integration of shared print content (including digital content) into relevant metadata and discovery services.

We anticipate this WG will coordinate with the recently formed collaboration of the California Digital Library, the Center for Research Libraries and HathiTrust to more fully integrate shared print into the full life cycle of collections (see https://www.crl.edu/sites/default/files/event_materials/4_Weltin_CDL%2C%20CRL%20%26%20HT%20Project.pptx), and provide general advocacy with vendors of shared print infrastructure related services, including interoperability with the evolving suite of resource sharing services.

Individuals interested in serving on the Infrastructure Working Group should contact Heather Weltin at weltin at hathitrust.org.

Sincerely,
Stephanie D. Davis, M.S./M.B.A.
