Hello, Pamela, everyone.

As a second-group, latecomer to the MI-SPI initiative, OU continues to be
very interested in these developments and will look forward to learning more
about next steps. Many of us had scheduling conflicts that prevented us
from participating in the last group meeting, so your summary is helpful.
Thank you, Pamela!

Best regards,

Adriene

Subject: [Mcls-print-storage] Report on MI SPI and SCS Meeting at ALA

Hello Everyone,

Several members of MI-SPI and Randy Dykhuis (MCLS) met with Rick Lugg and
Andy Breeding from SCS at ALA Midwinter. The discussion focused on adding
new partners to the MI SPI project This would involve combining data from
new members with the existing MI SPI database, refreshing the collective
collection data for the enlarged group, and producing weeding and retention
lists based on the enlarged collection. Also discussed was pricing for this
work.

Rick Lugg said that the current model for creating shared print collections
is to ingest and combine data from all members, apply the agreed upon
criteria to the collective collection, run the analysis, and produce the
resulting lists. Adding or deleting libraries from the group is hard for
SCS. When adding libraries there are two options: 1. Re-create the dataset
for the new group or 2. Create a new group with only the new libraries.
Those at the meeting thought that the first option is more preferable for
MI-SPI.

Pricing models might be organized into a regular payment schedule or payment
upon delivery of a scheduled portion of the project. These options are open
to more discussion.

Next steps will be for the MI SPI Steering Committee to discuss this during
a conference call scheduled for 13 March 2014.

Hope everyone is doing well-despite the wind chill.

Best regards,

Pamela
