Hello MI-SPI friends:

I will provide an overview of MI-SPI withdrawal and retention activities/procedures during the upcoming Charleston Preconference session on shared print initiatives.

I want to insure I provide the correct information for my part of the presentation. I'm asking if you (or other library staff more directly involved with this aspect) would write brief answers to the following set of questions and send them back to me to incorporate into my portion of the preconference. Thank so much for your assistance and input!

* What did you do with your withdrawal lists? Did you sort by actual circulation counts? (A few members have talked about starting with just the zero circ items.)

* Did you concentrate on certain subject areas or portions of the collection where space was a real problem? Or did you do a blanket withdrawal?

* Did the subject librarians and/or faculty review the items one last time?

* Was your withdrawing done as a big project that could be scheduled for beginning to end in a set time period? Was the withdrawal gradual-a section of call numbers at time, for example?

* Did Tech Services incorporate the withdrawal into their exiting workflow? Or did they put all other activities on hold and deal with items en masse?

Thank you again for your information.

Best regards to all,
Pamela
