Hi MiSpi friends:
I've been tasked with providing an overview of the MiSpi group for the upcoming Charleston Preconference session on shared print initiatives:
To insure I provide the correct information for my part of the presentation I'm asking if you would write brief answers to the following set of q uestions and send them back to me to use.
1. Describe why you participated in this project? Elements to consider are space constraints, participating in a new/innovative project; exploring new ways of cooperating, etc.
2. What did your library expect to give to the project and what did you expect to get out of the project?
3. As the project evolved was there a change in how your institution would contribute/benefit? If so explain why.
3. If you were to describe the "culture" of your library with regard to managing/weeding collections would you say it is: conservative, moderate, liberal, cutting edge?
Briefly explain the basis for your answer.
4. As a result of working through this project would you say that your institution's culture has changed? If so in what way and why?
5. What impact did the various size institutions have on your decision to participate? What strengths/drawbacks do you see in having a wide range
of different sized and institution with different missions participate in this project?
Again, I don't want you to spend a lot of time on this, brief but complete answers will help me develop "demographic" portion of the discussion.
Once I'm done, I'll be happy to share the conclusions with the MiSpi group.
Thanks.
Bob Kelly
